Adithya is on a Journey: What's the story?

I made the bold decision to quit my job and travel the world. This is my story—and what this blog is all about.

Hey there, friend! Settle in—here comes the story!

I’m Adithya, a 27-year-old Indian woman. I used to be a data engineer—which, honestly, isn’t as boring as it sounds. But sitting for long hours in front of a computer comes with the job. I enjoyed learning the ropes and tackling challenges, but I felt like I was waiting for life to start. School had a natural endpoint, so did college. But now, here I was—comfortable, even successful by society’s standards—with no finish line in sight. And I kept wondering: What now?

The natural next step was to buy a house, get married and start a family. But the thought of it terrified me because I didn’t want any of it. And when I searched for alternatives, I came up empty. Was this really what I was supposed to look forward to? Is this the only path to a fulfilling life? Should I force myself to want things I had no interest in, just because—well—what else is there?

I’d pace my room endlessly, gripped by the fear that if I didn’t figure this out, life would just pass me by. I asked people for answers, but their lack of urgency only made me panic more. Then one day, mid-pace, it hit me—What did I want to do when I used to be stuck?

To pursue a dream, you need three things: time, money, and health. I didn’t have all three until my 20s. By then, I had accumulated countless dreams and reassured myself that I just had to wait until I was independent to pursue them. I tried to be patient, jotting down notes in my journals, saving screenshots on my phone—breadcrumbs left for future me. But somewhere along the way—through the chaos, the routine, the sheer momentum of life—I had forgotten them all.

I literally laughed out loud when this hit me. It seemed so obvious. And just like that, for the first time in forever, I felt it again: excitement.

I left my job, got rid of most of my stuff and began the journey! I’ve set a fixed budget and I plan to travel until it’s gone. There is A LOT I want to see and do, and on this blog I’ll share my stories, tips, guides, anything I think is worth sharing.

What do I expect from my journey?

There are many ways to explore and experience a place, and the kind of travel you gravitate toward depends on what you truly cherish about being in a different part of the world.

I prefer to take things slow, taking each day as it comes. I want to know how people live in different corners of the world. I want to be surrounded by nature and embrace adventure—surfing, skiing, hiking. I want to see the northern lights, feel the extremes of both heat and cold. Be amazed, miserable, silly, peaceful. I want to grow through the challenges I face on this journey— by developing new skills, gaining perspective, or simply by building resilience. And nothing is better at providing a constant array of challenges than solo travel as a girl on a budget.

I believe in an infinite, eternal force that flows through all living things—the very essence of life itself. In rare moments of tranquility, surrounded by the beauty of this world, I feel in harmony with it. In those fleeting instants, the illusion of ‘I’ dissolves, revealing that we are all part of one vast, endless presence. I want to carry that piece of me, of us, wherever I go—until my time here ends.

I get it, that sounds intensely “hippie,” but hey, it’s not a bad way to go through life.

Okay, I may have derailed a bit. To sum it up, what I look for in this journey is—

fresh perspective, a deeper connection, and a whole lot of fun.

I hope you stay and follow my adventures.

Finally, what’s with the blog name?

You probably like traveling for one reason or another. And wherever you go, you find your own ways to explore. On this blog, I just want to share little bits of information that might make your journey better—kind of like how casually munching on peanuts makes traveling more enjoyable. I don’t expect my insights to change the way you travel, but I hope they add a little extra fun.
